Please enjoy my blogs from a recent trip to some of our partners in Romania.
Hi there, my name is Susi Shears and I am Area Fundraising Manager for Blythswood Care in the south east of England. Soon I will visit some of our partners and projects in Romania for the first time. I am flying out with my husband and 2 children and I’m not entirely sure what to expect. I think Romania as a country has developed a great deal over the last few years and from what I can gather the cities have improved and progressed but the people living in the more rural areas still live in poverty, some in desperate conditions. It’s in these areas where a lot of our partners work and serve – these are the places I will visit.
As a Fundraiser it is so important for me to see and experience where people live and to understand the reality of their situations. I want this experience to inform my work so that I can communicate more clearly the difficulties they face. But also I want to understand how you are helping to transform lives through Education, Working in the community and with the Gospel.
As a Christian, it is a privilege to work for Blythswood Care. It’s all about transforming lives in the name of Jesus. So I am looking forward to encountering our work first hand ‘on the ground’.
My husband and I have both had the opportunity in the past to be involved in overseas missions and so we feel this visit is a great chance for our children to see other children less fortunate than themselves in another part of the world.
I would value your prayers for a safe journey and visit and that not only will I be more fully informed about our work in Romania but also that God will use us while we’re there.
